There are over 100,000 orphans living in orphanages and an estimated 1,000,000 living on the street. 70% of orphans will end up in prison, commit suicide or succumb to drug and alcohol addictions by age 20. There is a team of Americans living in Sumy, Ukraine who are providing food, clothing and a place for as many as they can fit into their small apartment. They are meeting with school directors arranging for these orphans to get training so they have hope for a future. They are getting them tested so that some are being allowed to continue schooling. They are getting them much needed medical and dental attention. But they need to buy a house so they can let more kids sleep in a warm, dry place. They need money so they can buy food for more kids and provide clothes and medical care for more kids and get schooling for more kids and.....But the beginning is a house. If they could buy a house and grow a garden they could feed a lot of kids even if it was just Kasha.
